From a biomedical perspective, acupuncture is the insertion of hair thin needles into energetic points on the body. These points send signals to the spinal cord and brain to activate the parasympathetic nervous system which controls the body's ability to relax. This activation creates a sense of calm which allows healing to take place.

In addition, hormones will be released such as endorphins which are the body's natural painkillers. These hormones also release stress and create a sense of well-being.

Acupuncture is a traditional medicine that utilizes specific points to affect organ systems, circulation and qi (energy) of the body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the practitioner will identify patterns of disharmony and use specific points to bring the body back to homeostasis.

My journey into Chinese medicine began while working at an acupuncture clinic during a transition in my life. While working there, I was able to see all of the wonderful benefits of this ancient medicine. I was drawn to the holistic approach of treating the mind and body as one rather than treating just the symptom. After receiving acupuncture for the first time and experiencing the sense of calm and relaxation from the treatment, I knew I needed to have this ability to regulate the nervous system for our busy modern lives. I graduated from Pacific College of Health and Sciences (PCHS) in New York City and devoted the last 7 years of my life studying this medicine. I completed an internship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Integrative Oncology unit working with patients during cancer treatments and with post cancer treatment symptoms. I also completed an internship at NYU Langone campus working with women with musculoskeletal and neurological disabilities. Finally, I interned at Brooklyn’s Housingworks where I gained experience treating addiction and mental health issues. After graduating from school, I completed extensive trainings learning how to treat musculoskeletal and pain conditions using Neurofunctional acupuncture and Trigger Point or Dry Needling acupuncture. I continue to advance my knowledge of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with numerous continuing education courses to maintain my license. Clinically, I have experience treating musculoskeletal and pain conditions, fertility and women’s health, hormonal imbalances, digestive, auto-immune and mental health disorders. I work with everyone including the elderly, professional athletes, and teenagers. I believe that you deserve the highest quality healthcare from a caring professional. I strive to meet you where you are in life, provide a listening ear, and investigate the root cause of your issue. I utilize an integrative approach combining modern biomedicine with the ancient principles of traditional Chinese medicine. I hope to provide a healing space for you to become a healthier and happier individual. I look forward to working together!
